I had that pair in mind from the start since you get a nice 1080p display as well...it has been working quite well. 30fps straight onto SSD works as well, but as you said 150+ fps is just an insane amount of data to write. Maybe some of the newest Samsung SSDs can do it - they claim sequential write speeds of over 500MB/s. I don't know what's in between the USB3.0 port and the SSD, though.

Surface 3 is coming out soon - not a huge spec improvement that I could see, though.

And then USB3.1.....Shane Coltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10603406287033587039noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8200098102909041178.post-15424949870001973092014-06-16T20:09:45.870-04:002014-06-16T20:09:45.870-04:00This is so sweet! I had actually tried that myself and it worked really well, but that was with the GS3 with the CMV4000 CMOS sensor and with the original Surface Pro. About your comments on the Point Grey driver, don't worry about not getting it installed, you wouldn't see any improvements. Windows 8.1 native usb3 driver is very mature and stable with the GS3. With the original Surface Pro, which was Win 8.0, we could install the Point Grey driver but it would disable the Surface's Wifi.

As for the recording data throughput, we are currently testing a whole bunch of SSD's with the GS3s...get this...even RAIDing two SSDs together somethimes isn't fast enough for the data!

I really glad to see you working on this project. I think people will appreciate the Global Shutter benefits. Keep up the awesome work!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04847615479692894488noreply@blogger.com
